Village Apartment with an Incredible View
All the furnishings, except the drop leaf table the lamps are on behind the settee, a wood chair, artwork and the sconce in the dining area, were purchased new, after the gut renovation of the apartment. One of the things that makes me happiest about the outcome of this project is that while the furnishings look fresh and up to date, they fit so well with my client's personality and with the apartment itself, that a sense of permanence and continuity were created. A short while later, my client inherited a family desk and chair. Happily, it fit in beautifully with the rest of the furniture and found the perfect home against an empty wall across from the living room seating area. It looks like we meant to place it in the room, from the beginning. It's always nice to have a mix of old and new furniture and some pieces that carry memories and sentiment. It grounds a space and makes it home.
