Brooklyn House with a Mid Century Modern Vibe
My clients called me because they just felt the house wasn't quite coming together in the way that they had hoped. They had some really great pieces and yet somehow it just wasn't happening. I kept the wall color in the adjoining room, the same color, but painted the living room a nice warm gray. It just seemed to pull the room out of a slightly dated period feeling Mid Century room into a vibrant Mid Century room that feels and looks fresh in 2015.
The original dining room rug was moved up to the bedroom, the original rust colored living room rug, moved into the dining room and we bought a new rug for the living room. It's elegant and fun at the same time. The new rust colored circular ottoman breaks up the angularity of the existing sectional pieces, which are chocolate brown. The fabulous new but vintage looking ceiling light fixture joins the existing light fixtures.
The throw pillows in cream, rust, yellow, gray and brown link all the elements in the room.
